LAUNCH ANGLE

DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR TRAJECTORY?

Whether you want to hit the ball higher or lower with your driver, changing "Dynamic Loft" is the most direct way to change your Launch Angle.

Trackman Dynamic Loft

So, what is Dynamic Loft? Well, it is the amount of loft presented to the ball at impact.

See picture below.

Trackman Golf - Dynamic Loft

Both Dynamic Loft and Attack Angle (upward or downward movement of club head at impact) affect launch angle.

See picture below.

Trackman Golf - Attack Angle and Dynamic Loft

The ball will always launch in between the Dynamic Loft and Attack Angle. With the driver, Dynamic Loft has about 4 times more influence on launch than attack angle.

See picture below.

So, changing a players Dynamic Loft will increase Launch Angle more quickly than changing a players Attack Angle. BUT... Increasing Dynamic Loft with the same Attack Angle will increase Spin Loft (article to come) which is an important consideration in optimizing distance.

What does this all mean for you?

The key to changing your Launch Angle is through Dynamic Loft with the correct Attack Angle to also optimize driver distance.

Take a Driver Optimization session with Mike Bury to learn how to change your launch and optimize your driver distance.

ATTACK ANGLE

ARE YOU MAXIMIZING YOUR DRIVER DISTANCE?

  •

Attack Angle is a critical component when it comes to maximizing distance with the driver. Attack Angle is the upward or downward movement of the club's geometric center at the moment of maximum compression. In other words, it is whether you are hitting up or down on the ball.
